The main idea behind the fnews is to use an existing mail infrastructure to fetch and post news. fnews is a gateway between mail and news servers.

To retrieve news messages from a NNTP server use fnews which will fetch unread messages and feed them either to a SMTP server or to a local MDA.

To post a news message use pnews which will fetch the posted messages from a POP3 server and send them to a NNTP server.
